Waterloo county supervisor Hochadel switching to Republican Party

Seneca County Board of Supervisors member Lisa Hochadel has filed paperwork to switch her political party enrollment from Democrat to Republican.

The change will go into effect Nov. 12, seven days after the general election.

The switch could leave the 14-member county board with one Democrat, Cindy Lorenzetti of Fayette, whose term expires Dec. 31, 2021.

Hochadel, an at-large board member from Waterloo, was a Republican for several years before switching to the Democratic Party in 2010. She was elected to the county board as a Democrat. Her current term expires Dec. 31 of this year.

The Seneca County Board of Elections confirmed that Hochadel filed the necessary form Dec. 26.
