A swearing-in ceremony for Auburn’s new city court judge will be held New Year’s Day.
Previously the associate justice at the city court, David Thurston will be sworn in as Auburn’s City Court Judge at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial City Hall, 24 South St., Auburn. Thurston is replacing Judge Michael McKeon, who is retiring after a 20-year career presiding over the city court. Thurston won election to the 10-year term in a race against local attorney Steven Buschman last fall.
The ceremony, which is expected to last about 15 minutes, is open to the public. Mayor Michael Quill will provide a brief welcome and Thurston will be sworn in as judge by his father, attorney Earl Thurston.
