I’ve been a resident of Seneca Falls for 23 years, since my wife, Stephanie, and I moved here in 1999. We have two children: Grace, a junior at Mynderse Academy, and Madeleine, a sixth grader at the Seneca Falls Middle School. The Seneca Falls community and spirited school district made settling here a logical choice.
It is with a sense of pride and desire to give back to my community and our school district that I am seeking election to the Seneca Falls Board of Education.
I was raised on a small dairy farm only a few miles east of Seneca Falls and graduated from Jordan-Elbridge HS in 1994. Growing up on a farm while balancing academics and athletics, I developed a strong work ethic that I carry with me to this day. After two years in college, I started my career path in the commercial construction industry. In 2006, I was offered the position of vice president of Upstate Construction Services, Inc. based in Syracuse, NY. In 2016, I purchased the remaining shares of the company and am now the sole President and owner. My business concentrates on large commercial construction contracts with the US Military, local municipalities, and local schools. I feel strongly that my 25+ years of doing business in this industry would be a benefit on the Seneca Falls Board of Education as fiscal responsibility, negotiation, accountability, and transparency are paramount to success in both positions.
As our children have grown older and become involved in school sports, I have tried to be involved in their sporting careers as a way to give back to my community while supporting youth development. I was an assistant girls softball coach for four years, an assistant girls lacrosse coach for two years, as well as the head coach for an additional two years. I have also volunteered with the youth soccer programs for several years. Currently, I am the treasurer for the girls varsity soccer team as well as the treasurer for the girls and boys soccer concession stand. It has been important to me that my family and my business contribute time and financial resources to help support athletic, academic, and social functions within our school community.
My goal in becoming a member of the Seneca Falls Board of Education is to help the Seneca Falls student and faculty community. I believe that my business background and project management skills coupled with my experience building community connections while promoting school spirit and unity would make me a true asset and strong member of the Board.
Thank you for your consideration. I would appreciate your vote on May 17th.
