New Yorkers who bought certain generic prescription drugs between May 2009 and December 2019 may qualify for compensation following pharmaceutical settlements totaling $1.05 million.
Attorney General Letitia James announced the agreements Oct. 8, involving Ascend Laboratories and Mayne Pharma.
Mayne will pay $650,000 and Ascend $400,000. Citron Pharma agreed to nonmonetary terms because it has ceased operations.
The money will go to affected consumers across participating states. Eligibility depends on the drug purchased; not every generic prescription qualifies.
The attorney general’s office directs consumers to check eligibility and submit claims by March 8, 2027, through the settlement website. Assistance is available at 1-866-290-0182 or info@aggenericdrugs.com.
The agreements are part of ongoing multistate litigation alleging manufacturers coordinated prices, restricted competition and rigged bids involving more than 100 generic drugs. The states say some coordinated price increases exceeded 1,000%.
The companies agreed to internal compliance reforms, including annual antitrust training, and will cooperate with the states’ continuing cases.
