Newark paving starts Oct. 20 with daytime parking restrictions on five streets

Milling and paving will begin Oct. 20 on five streets and two municipal parking lots in the Village of Newark, with daytime parking prohibited on the affected streets while work is underway.

The village's notice says vehicle access may also be temporarily limited so crews can work safely and efficiently. Drivers are asked to use caution and take alternative routes when possible.

Streets and parking lots included

The work will cover these street sections:

  • Vienna Street, from Route 31 to Maple Avenue.
  • Rose Drive, from Route 88 to Charlotte Street.
  • Stevens Street, from Route 88 to Summit Drive.
  • Charlotte Street, from Wilson Street to the dead end.
  • West Myrtle, from East Avenue to Prospect Street.

Two municipal lots are also included: lot E, bordered by the canal, East Avenue, East Union and Pontillo's; and lot F, in front of Marshall Exteriors.

Temporary changes at driveways

Milling will leave a temporary 2-inch lip at driveway entrances. Crews will ramp the millings at driveways to help maintain access, according to the village.

The notice gives Oct. 20 as the start date but does not list a completion date or a separate work schedule for each street and lot. The daytime street-parking restriction applies while work is taking place.
