Syracuse football heads to Charlottesville on Saturday to face Virginia in its final road game before returning to the JMA Wireless Dome. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Scott Stadium, with the game airing on the ACC Network.
The Orange are coming off a thrilling 42-41 overtime victory over UConn, highlighted by quarterback Amari Odom in his first start for Syracuse. Odom threw five touchdown passes to tie the program’s single-game record and added a rushing touchdown, becoming just the fifth player in program history to account for at least six touchdowns in a game.
Wide receiver Umari Hatcher was a major part of that performance, catching 12 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns. His final score came on fourth-and-goal from the UConn 17-yard line in overtime, setting up the two-point conversion that secured the victory. Hatcher enters Saturday ranked second in the ACC and 11th nationally with five receiving touchdowns.
Running back Tylik Hill also comes into the matchup after rushing for 140 yards against UConn. He ranks second in the conference at 6.24 yards per carry.
Saturday will mark just the seventh all-time meeting between Syracuse and Virginia, with the teams tied at three wins apiece. The Orange won their most recent meeting in 2022, while this will be Syracuse’s first trip to Scott Stadium since 2015. Four of the teams’ six previous matchups were decided by three points or went to overtime.
