A Chautauqua County man has been sentenced to 78 months in federal prison and 30 years of supervised release after a conviction for possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, prosecutors said.
Jose Perez, 42, of Celoron, was sentenced by federal Judge Lawrence Vilardo, according to an Oct. 2 release from the U.S. attorney's office in Western New York.
Investigators searched Perez's home on Dec. 15, 2022, after he uploaded a child pornography file to Dropbox, prosecutors said. They seized his phone, and a later examination found about three images and one video of child pornography.
Some of the material depicted children younger than 12, according to the release. Prosecutors said Perez also admitted that, on at least two occasions, he engaged in the sexual abuse, exploitation or attempted sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Mango prosecuted the case. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations and Jamestown Police Department investigated, prosecutors said.
