An Ovid man was arrested Monday after deputies said he sent threatening text messages during a domestic incident, causing the recipient to fear for their safety.
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office identified him as Rodney Smith, 60, and said in its arrest release that deputies took him into custody in the town of Ovid at about 4:46 Monday afternoon.
Smith was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment, a Class A misdemeanor, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies took him to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center for processing, then turned him over to corrections staff to await arraignment in Seneca County's centralized arraignment court.
