South Bristol residents and neighbors can bring a recent utility bill to Town Hall on Oct. 8 for one-on-one help with energy costs before winter. Representatives of RG&E and NYSEG are scheduled to discuss assistance programs and ways to reduce household bills.
The town's announcement says the Community Connection will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at South Bristol Town Hall, 6500 West Gannett Hill Road in Naples. It is open to anyone, including residents of South Bristol, Naples and Bristol; the release lists no advance registration requirement.
A brief presentation will open the event, followed by workshops and individual conversations with utility representatives. People who bring a bill can ask questions about their own accounts and receive guidance on available programs and cost-saving tools, according to the town.
The event flyer identifies the utilities' Enhanced Energy Affordability Program as one topic. It also says representatives can discuss other energy-assistance and energy-efficiency programs, smart meters, local utility projects and billing concerns. The town did not set out eligibility rules or promise that every attendee would qualify for a discount.
Town Supervisor Lisa Moore said the goal is to give residents direct access to people who can explain practical options before cold weather arrives. She specifically invited households in South Bristol, Naples and Bristol, while the town says the session is open to all.
The town describes the workshops as interactive, with RG&E and NYSEG representatives available throughout the three-hour event. Attendees can use the time to ask about winter preparations or the programs that may apply to their utility accounts.
