Three Geneva city councilors will host a public town hall next month, giving residents an opportunity to discuss the city budget and other issues facing the community.
Councilors Peter Gillotte of Ward 4, Jim Petropoulos of Ward 5 and Jamie Kaim of Ward 6 will host the event from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Sons of Italy Lodge 2397, 31 Prospect Ave.
Mayor Jim Cecere will also participate as a guest speaker.
The event comes as City Council works through the 2027 budget process, which has included a series of departmental workshops examining staffing, spending and other priorities for the coming year.
Cecere said the budget will be among the topics open for discussion, but the town hall isn’t limited to city finances. Residents will be able to ask questions, share ideas and speak directly with council members about issues and opportunities in Geneva.
Cecere said he also plans to discuss “modernizing city government” and a newly proposed approach for how the city operates. His announcement didn’t provide additional details about that proposal.
While the event is being organized by councilors representing Wards 4, 5 and 6, attendance isn’t limited to residents of those wards. Organizers said all Geneva residents are welcome.
No appointment or registration is required, and the announcement says there will be plenty of seating available.
