Hobart soccer erased a halftime deficit with four goals in the second half, rallying past Rochester Institute of Technology 4-1 on Wednesday night at Judson Stadium in a Liberty League matchup.
The 21st-ranked Statesmen fell behind in the 25th minute when Gavin Culley scored for Rochester Institute of Technology, but Hobart responded with an offensive surge after halftime.
Brady Leitner started the comeback in the 48th minute, finishing a sequence that began with a turnover forced by the Statesmen. Will Slayton then gave Hobart the lead less than two minutes later, chipping a shot over Rochester Institute of Technology goalkeeper Kristian Dobbek.
Hobart added two more goals within a 72-second span to put the match away. Danny Spataro scored his first goal of the season in the 62nd minute, with Quinn Phillips and Gabe Smith providing assists. Leitner struck again 63 seconds later, collecting a loose ball in the six-yard box and finishing for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Leitner finished with two goals, while Slayton and Spataro each recorded a goal and an assist. Griffin Coutts added an assist, giving him a Liberty League-leading nine this season.
Hobart held a 14-10 advantage in shots and scored on four of its five shots on goal. Rochester Institute of Technology finished with a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Jake Hans played all 90 minutes in goal for Hobart and made three saves.
The victory improved Hobart to 7-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Liberty League play, while Rochester Institute of Technology fell to 2-3-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
Hobart returns to action Saturday against Bard at 2 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
