Syracuse men’s soccer improved to 6-3-0 on the season Saturday night, defeating Le Moyne 2-0 at SU Soccer Stadium for its second consecutive victory.
After a scoreless opening half, the Orange broke through just two minutes into the second half when Gabriel Oksanen scored his second goal of the season. Oksanen found the back of the net without an assist to give Syracuse a 1-0 advantage.
The Orange added some insurance in the 63rd minute when Bryson Rodriguez finished a pass from Landon Darko for his third goal of the season. Rodriguez is now tied with Pedro Gulli for the team lead in goals.
Syracuse controlled the match offensively, finishing with a 29-8 advantage in shots. The Orange also put 12 attempts on target, while Le Moyne recorded six shots on goal.
Juan Martinez-Bastidas was strong in goal for Syracuse, making six saves during all 90 minutes to secure the shutout. The Orange goalkeeper turned aside every attempt that came his way as Syracuse held the Dolphins scoreless.
Syracuse will now return to Atlantic Coast Conference play on the road. The Orange will travel to face Notre Dame on Friday, September 25, in South Bend, Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
