Roseland Bowl will bring the FLX Open back to Canandaigua for a fourth year, offering 10 weekends of handicap bowling competition from Sept. 25 through Nov. 29.
The tournament will include team, doubles and singles events, giving bowlers across a range of skill levels a chance to compete for cash prizes at the Finger Lakes venue.
Organizers said the handicap format is intended to create a level playing field for casual league bowlers as well as more accomplished competitors. Both returning participants and first-time entrants may register.
The format divides competition into team, doubles and singles events rather than requiring every entrant to compete in the same field. Roseland Bowl said the structure is meant to give bowlers of different abilities a comparable path into the tournament.
The first-place team prize is $3,000. First-place doubles competitors will receive $1,500, while the first-place singles prize is $750.
Registration is open, and Roseland Bowl said squad availability is expected to fill quickly. Entry forms, tournament information and available squad times are posted through the FLX Open section of Roseland Bowl's website.
Chris Buonaugurio, Roseland Bowl's general manager, said the tournament is designed to be competitive while remaining welcoming and enjoyable for everyone who participates.
Buonaugurio said organizers expect both bowlers pursuing a championship and those looking for a tournament experience to take part. The combination of the handicap system, multiple event formats and a 10-weekend schedule gives participants several ways to enter the competition.
Roseland Bowl has operated in Canandaigua for nearly 60 years and regularly hosts leagues, tournaments and competitive bowlers from around the region. The entertainment center also includes an arcade, laser tag, bumper cars and food and beverage service.
The venue describes itself as an all-ages entertainment destination for families, groups and community gatherings. The FLX Open centers that broader operation on Roseland Bowl's longstanding role in the regional bowling community.
The tournament runs through the fall at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua, with competition scheduled across the 10-weekend window ending Nov. 29.
