Ontario County will hold a free recycling event Oct. 3 for residents who need to dispose of appliances containing Freon.
The collection will run from 8 to 11 a.m. and will accept refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and other qualifying appliances. The event is open only to Ontario County residents.
Advance registration is required. The registration period opened Sept. 14 and will continue through Sept. 30 or until the event reaches capacity.
The county’s Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management is organizing the collection. The event notice didn’t list the collection site or explain how residents should register.
