Erie Canal boat tours will connect Waterloo and Wayne County communities Sept. 25-28

Finger Lakes Water Adventures will offer seven Erie Canal trips from Sept. 25 through Sept. 28, linking Waterloo with stops in Clyde, Lyons, Palmyra, Macedon and Newark. The excursions range from two to five hours and include routes through as many as six locks.

The company said the Seneca Lake Reel Tour Boat will make the trip through Wayne County over the four-day period. Specific departure times and prices were not included in the announcement, which directs passengers to the company's online ticket link for availability.


The first route runs 27 miles from Waterloo to Clyde and is expected to take about 4½ hours while passing through four locks. A second trip covers 12 miles from Clyde to Lyons in about two hours and also includes four locks.

A Lyons-to-Palmyra trip is planned for roughly four hours across 14.21 miles and three locks. Another excursion will leave Palmyra, travel toward Fairport and return to Macedon, covering about 18 to 19 miles in 4½ to five hours and passing through one lock.

The schedule also includes a three-hour, 10.2-mile trip from Macedon to Newark through two locks. A separate Newark-to-Lyons trip is listed at three hours, 5.7 miles and three locks.

The final listed route runs 30 miles from Lyons to Waterloo. It is expected to take about five hours and pass through six locks.
