Oakcrest Road clearing draws Lansing complaints

Tree clearing along Oakcrest Road has prompted Village of Lansing residents to raise concerns about lost vegetation, wildlife and drainage, according to The Tompkins Weekly.

Residents brought their concerns to the village Planning Board on Aug. 25 as Murray Estates Inc. worked to secure its properties.

Neighbor Joyce Wheatley said the clearing has disrupted the landscape and wildlife near her home.

Oakcrest Road resident Cosmin Beliciu warned that removing a wooded buffer could worsen runoff and strain nearby drainage.

Village officials said they cannot prevent the owner from building a fence on its property, and code officer Mike Scott said he would research residents’ concerns.
