Aurora is considering a one-year moratorium on fireworks displays while it reviews village regulations, according to The Citizen.
A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at the firehouse meeting room, 456 Main St.
Residents have complained about displays at the Inns of Aurora, particularly after wedding receptions.
Trustees voted 4-1 to schedule the moratorium hearing, with Bonnie Bennett opposed.
The proposed pause would give officials time to consider tighter rules or a ban; existing law prohibits fireworks within a half-mile of livestock farms.
