Syracuse men’s soccer created plenty of opportunities Friday night but could not turn its chances into goals, falling 2-0 to Boston College at Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field.
The Orange dropped to 4-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play, while Boston College improved to 4-1-1 and 1-1-0. Syracuse finished with a commanding 19-8 advantage in shots but was unable to solve the Eagles’ defense.
Boston College broke through in the 53rd minute when Michael Asare found the back of the net to give the Eagles the lead. Syracuse continued to push forward in search of an equalizer, but the Orange could not capitalize on their chances.
The Eagles eventually added an insurance goal when Russell Brown scored off an assist from Moritz Gundelach, giving Boston College a two-goal cushion that Syracuse could not overcome.
Syracuse goalkeeper Kyle Jansen made one save in the loss.
The Orange will have a chance to regroup Tuesday, September 15, when it travels to Colgate for a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
