Auburn residents will have two opportunities this fall to dispose of household garbage, furniture, electronics, yard waste and other materials during the city’s 2026 Fall Cleaning Event.
The cleanup days are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at the City of Auburn Transfer Station, 311 North Division St. No landfill permit is required.
Residents must bring materials directly to the transfer station and provide both a driver’s license and vehicle registration showing proof of City of Auburn residency. The addresses on both documents must match.
Trailers, box vans and U-Hauls will not be allowed, and all garbage must be placed in a container or bag. City officials said those requirements will be strictly enforced.
Materials accepted at no cost include household garbage, recycling, mattresses and box springs, furniture, electronics, computer parts, televisions, printers, microwaves, DVD and VCR equipment, cell phones, mobile devices and fluorescent lamps.
Yard waste and brush will also be accepted, but those materials must be emptied from plastic bags. Residents may bring up to four car tires, with or without rims, per residence each day.
Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other appliances containing Freon will be accepted for a $45 fee per unit.
Hazardous waste, asbestos, motor oil, liquid waste, grease, solvents, paint and cooking oil will not be accepted during the cleanup events.
Residents with questions about acceptable materials or event requirements are encouraged to contact the Auburn Transfer Station at 315-252-6441 before arriving.
