Economist Kerwin Charles will return to Cornell University on Sept. 22 to deliver the 2026 Staller Lecture on racial inequality in the labor market.
The public lecture, "The Persistence of Racial Labor Market Inequality," begins at 4:30 in the afternoon in Room 155 of Olin Hall.
Charles earned his doctorate from Cornell in 1996 and is now dean of the Yale School of Management. He also holds the Frederick W. Beinecke professorship in economics, policy and management.
His research covers several dimensions of inequality in employment and the labor market. Cornell's Department of Economics is sponsoring the event.
Seth Sanders, chair of Cornell's economics department, said Charles is known for revisiting established research questions and matching economic methods to the problems being studied.
Sanders, who will introduce Charles, said that approach has helped researchers better understand inequality in the labor market.
The Staller Lecture is organized by the Department of Economics in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences.
