Two women were arrested after Bath police responded to a report of people smoking methamphetamine near a bus stop Friday, leading officers to drug paraphernalia and what police described as a large quantity of individually packaged narcotics.
Police were called to the bus stop on Wilkes Avenue around 2:37 p.m. Sept. 4 after a complainant reported seeing two women smoking meth nearby. Both had left in separate directions before officers arrived, but police said the complainant provided detailed descriptions.
Officers located Karen L. Turner, 45, of Corning, outside the county office building. Police said an investigation turned up narcotics packaging materials and devices used to smoke methamphetamine.
Turner was charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor. She was released on an appearance ticket. Police said Turner has three prior felony convictions in New York.
The second woman, identified as Ronica J. Fantigrossi, 30, of Rochester, was located a short time later on Liberty Street.
Police said Fantigrossi was found with a large quantity of various narcotics that were individually packaged and intended for sale in Bath.
She was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Class B felonies, and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.
Fantigrossi was taken to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment and remained held there at the time of the department’s report. Police said she has two prior felony convictions in New York.
