A high-visibility enforcement detail in the village of Bath led to dozens of traffic stops, multiple arrests and a narcotics investigation as local and county law enforcement stepped up patrols Friday.
The Bath Police Department and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office conducted the Sept. 4 detail, which resulted in 27 vehicle stops and 21 traffic tickets, according to Bath police.
Police also reported two warrant arrests, one arrest under the Mental Hygiene Law, one driving while intoxicated arrest and four bicycle stops.
The operation coincided with a large fight that required all available police units in the Bath area to respond. Police said five arrests have resulted from that incident so far, including four people charged with endangering the welfare of a child and one person charged with disorderly conduct.
That investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional charges could be filed.
A separate narcotics investigation during the detail resulted in two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
