A Bath man was arrested Friday after police said he violated a full stay-away order of protection by going to the victim’s residence during a reported domestic incident.
Andrew R. Beers, 45, of Bath, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a Class A misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a Class E felony, according to the Bath Police Department.
Police were called to a residence on Buell Street around 12:07 p.m. Sept. 4 for a domestic incident in progress. The suspect had left before officers arrived but was later located walking on West William Street.
Investigators determined Beers had allegedly violated the order of protection by going to the victim’s residence. Police also discovered he was wanted on an active bench warrant through New York State Police.
Beers was taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment on the new charges and the outstanding warrant. Police said he was remanded with the opportunity to post bail.
