A federal judge has temporarily blocked a new U.S. Postal Service mail-in voting rule while a legal challenge brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James continues.
James said the judge granted her motion for a preliminary injunction, preventing the rule from taking effect during the litigation.
The attorney general said voters should be able to cast ballots with confidence and should not have to worry about election rules changing suddenly.
James said her office will continue challenging efforts that could make voting more confusing or less accessible.
