An Auburn teenager has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in connection with a March stabbing at Fingerlakes Mall, according to The Citizen.
James T. Rio, 18, admitted to the charge Tuesday in Cayuga County Court and faces up to seven years in prison.
State police said the incident began with an altercation near the mall’s arcade before Rio followed the 19-year-old victim and struck him with a pool cue.
Police said Rio later pulled a knife, chased the victim into the parking lot and stabbed him in the right side of the chest, causing a non-life-threatening puncture wound.
Rio is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 13.
