A 41-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by three vehicles Sunday night while crossing Routes 5 and 20 in Auburn, according to New York State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:04 p.m. Aug. 31 near the intersection with Route 326, also known as Veterans Memorial Parkway. The bicyclist was riding north on Route 326 and attempted to cross the westbound lanes of Routes 5 and 20 against a red traffic signal, according to the preliminary investigation.
Police said a 2017 Dodge Ram traveling west in the right lane with a green light struck the bicycle, ejecting the rider into the right rear cab area of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west in the left lane.
The bicyclist then came to rest in the westbound left lane just beyond the intersection. Both vehicles involved in the initial collision stopped along the north shoulder.
A third westbound vehicle approached the scene and moved from the right lane into the left lane to pass the stopped vehicles, police said. The driver did not see the bicyclist in the roadway and struck him.

Investigators said there were no indications that any of the vehicle operators were impaired.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Auburn is continuing the investigation.
