Syracuse football finally gets its chance to turn the page Saturday, when the Orange open the 2026 season against New Hampshire at the JMA Wireless Dome. Kickoff is set for noon, with the game airing on ACC Network as Syracuse begins its third season under head coach Fran Brown.

This matchup will be a first in program history, as Syracuse and New Hampshire have never met on the football field.

The season opener will also mark the return of quarterback Steve Angeli, who has not played since September 2025 after an injury ended his season. Angeli made an immediate impact last year, helping the Orange average 472.8 yards of total offense and 38.3 points per game through his first four games while leading the nation in passing during that span.

Angeli’s return could be especially important with offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon entering his third season with the Orange. When Nixon has his Week 1 starting quarterback available, Syracuse is 13-4 and averages 468.8 yards of total offense per game, while surpassing 250 passing yards in each of those contests.

Syracuse has also enjoyed considerable success in both season openers and home debuts. The Orange are 88-44-4 all time in season-opening contests and have won 10 of their last 12. Syracuse is also 96-34-4 in home openers, including a 27-19 record since the Dome opened in 1980.
