A Wayne County man faces a dozen felony charges after state police said an investigation uncovered thousands of images and videos containing suspected child sexual abuse material on a cellphone.
Casey T. Behrendt, 47, of Ontario, was charged Aug. 27 with two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a felony, and 10 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, also a felony.
State police said the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received multiple CyberTipline reports involving files uploaded through the Kik messaging platform.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a Furnace Road residence in Ontario on July 28, 2025, and seized several electronic devices. Police said a forensic examination later found thousands of suspected child sexual abuse images and videos.
Behrendt surrendered at the state police barracks in Williamson and was transported to the Monroe County Jail for arraignment.
