Seneca Falls residents should expect traffic delays over the next several weeks as the town begins sidewalk improvements, milling and paving work on several roads.
Highway Superintendent Jeremy Wendt said crews will begin work Sept. 1 on sidewalk approaches at a number of corners to bring them into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Milling and paving are expected to begin Sept. 8 or 9, depending on weather, with the overall project expected to run for about 2½ weeks.
Roads scheduled for milling and paving include Tyre Avenue, Porter Street, Boston Avenue and Chapin Street.
Work is also planned on Black Brook Road beginning at Route 90 and continuing north for a short distance; East Bayard Street from Jay Street east past the cemetery; and Farron Road near the intersections with Peterman and Nobile roads.
Wendt said drivers should expect some delays while the work is underway, particularly around school arrival and dismissal times.
The Highway Department is working with local schools to determine how crews can operate around student drop-off areas, and emergency services have also been notified about the upcoming work.
