Cornell University alum Dominique Thorne, who stars in Marvel's “Ironheart,” will return to campus Sept. 9-10 for film screenings, discussions and meetings with students.
Thorne, a 2019 Cornell graduate, was selected as the university's 2026 Heermans-McCalmon Distinguished Guest Artist through the Department of Performing and Media Arts.
Her visit will include conversations about acting and the path from college to professional work. Cornell said Thorne submitted four or five audition tapes a week while she was a student and landed a breakout role in “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
Thorne chose Cornell instead of a conservatory because she wanted to study public policy and human development alongside performance. She also participated in the student organization Wari House and held a campus job.
Her later credits include the title role in the Marvel series “Ironheart.” Cornell did not provide public times or locations for the screenings in the retrieved announcement.
