A 36-year-old man was charged Tuesday with eight felony counts after an investigation into vehicle damage near Recreation Drive in the town of Hopewell, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies arrested Jason David Ward at 12:03 p.m. Sept. 1 and charged him with eight counts of third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony.
The charges stem from a series of criminal-mischief complaints reported in the Recreation Drive area between Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators alleged Ward intentionally damaged eight vehicles during that period.
Ward was already being held at the Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment in connection with an earlier incident from Sept. 1 when deputies filed the additional charges, the release said.
The sheriff's office identified Ward as homeless with a Canandaigua address.
He remained at the Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment on the new charges.
