A Seneca Falls woman has been charged with tampering with evidence and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation involving her husband, according to the Seneca Falls Police Department.
Police said Nicole F. Adams, 33, was arrested at about 6 p.m. Aug. 29 after investigators said she failed to turn over evidence related to the case involving Matthew J. Adams, 43, who had been arrested earlier that day.
Nicole Adams was charged with tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child. She was processed and taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility for arraignment and was later released, police said.
Matthew Adams was arrested at about 3:55 a.m. Aug. 29 after officers responded to his residence over allegations that he had sexual contact with a juvenile.
He was charged with first-degree rape and third-degree rape, police said.
Investigators also alleged that Matthew Adams possessed methamphetamine that he intended to sell. He was additionally charged with third-degree and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Police transported him to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he was held pending arraignment in Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court. An order of protection was requested for the victim.
The Seneca County District Attorney’s Office, Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes, North Seneca Ambulance and New York State Police assisted with the investigation.
