U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney released a 2026 tax plan Wednesday outlining priorities she said would lower taxes, expand savings and investment opportunities, and support families, seniors, farms and small businesses across New York's 24th Congressional District.
Tenney, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, said the proposal is intended to build on provisions in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and what her office called the Working Families Tax Cuts.
Plan builds on existing tax provisions
According to Tenney's office, the earlier tax package made several forms of individual and small-business relief permanent, increased the Child Tax Credit and standard deduction, protected family farms from the estate tax and provided tax relief for tipped and hourly workers, seniors and families with child care expenses.
The new plan calls for additional opportunities to save for retirement and incentives for investment in housing and economically distressed communities. It also proposes using the federal tax code to support Main Street businesses and other economic drivers in the congressional district.
Tenney emphasizes savings and investment
Tenney said the plan is based on allowing New Yorkers to keep more of their earnings while giving businesses greater certainty to invest and grow.
“My Tax Plan is about a simple principle: hardworking New Yorkers should keep more of the money they earn,” Tenney said in the release.
The announcement did not include projected costs, specific tax rates or a timeline for introducing legislation tied to the plan.
