New York State Fair visitors can explore artifacts and interactive programs about the American Revolution beginning Wednesday at the State Park at the Fair in Syracuse.
The "Revisit the Revolution" presentation will run through Sept. 7 as part of the state's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The State Park at the Fair is located in front of the Horticulture Building.
Exhibition brings together 21 historic objects
The Revisit the Revolution Traveling Exhibition features 21 objects from the collections of New York State Parks and Historic Sites. It will be joined by "The Revolution Across New York" exhibition banners and an interactive digital display throughout the fair.
Historic-site interpreters from across the state will present programs on colonial trade, Revolutionary War militias, loyalty oaths, colonial tea and rum, Native American history, African American history and other aspects of life in Revolutionary-era New York.
State Parks and Historic Sites Commissioner Kathy Moser said the programs are intended to show visitors New York's role in the Revolution and introduce them to the historic places that preserve those stories.
Park also offers demonstrations and family activities
The State Park at the Fair includes shaded picnic tables, trees and a reflecting pool. Other attractions include a miniature golf course, a live Birds of Prey demonstration and the State Parks store.
