U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy will recognize four dozen Southern Tier residents at an Elmira awards program Tuesday through his America 250 Community Heroes initiative.
The program is scheduled for 3 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Clemens Center, 207 Clemens Center Parkway in Elmira.
Langworthy's office said the honorees are from Chemung, Schuyler and Tioga counties and were selected for service, sacrifice and community spirit as the country prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its founding.
The Elmira ceremony will be the third in a series being held across New York's 23rd Congressional District. Several state and local elected officials are also expected to attend.
