A Seneca County corrections officer faces two forcible touching charges after investigators alleged he inappropriately touched two incarcerated people at the county jail outside the scope of his duties.
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office said investigators arrested Rocco S. Bilancini, 47, of Seneca Falls on Thursday following an investigation into conduct alleged to have occurred Aug. 4 inside the Seneca County Correctional Facility.
Bilancini was arraigned in Seneca County centralized arraignment court and released on his own recognizance, according to the Sheriff's Office. He is scheduled to appear in Romulus Town Court at a later date.
Sheriff Melinda Marquart said the agency immediately opened criminal and internal investigations after learning of the allegations. She said the safety of incarcerated people is paramount and that conduct outside an officer's official duties would not be tolerated.
The Sheriff's Office said Bilancini was placed on unpaid leave effective immediately. The agency said the matter would also be handled under departmental policy, applicable law and collective bargaining agreements.
