Rochester Regional Health's Moxi delivery robots have completed more than 100,000 trips at Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital, work the health system estimates has returned more than 50,000 hours to hospital staff.
The robots have made more than 75,000 deliveries at Rochester General and more than 25,000 at Unity since they began operating in 2023, according to Rochester Regional Health. The system said the work has also saved employees about 55,000 miles of walking, or roughly 120 million steps.
Moxi robots transport medications, supplies and laboratory specimens through the hospitals. Diligent Robotics developed the machines to handle routine delivery work so hospital employees can spend more time with patients.
Casey Wilbert, Rochester Regional Health's vice president of pharmacy and imaging services, said the robots take on tasks that do not require a person and help make employees' workdays easier.
The health system said the milestone was reached in August. Rochester Regional Health operates nine hospitals along with primary and specialty practices, rehabilitation centers, urgent care facilities, senior services, behavioral health programs and laboratories across Western New York, the Finger Lakes and St. Lawrence County.
