A Bath man faces felony assault charges after police said he struck an officer while being released on an appearance ticket.
Jonathan M. Sick, 24, of Bath, was initially charged with public lewdness, a class B misdemeanor, and a local law open container violation following an incident around 1:01 p.m. Aug. 19 near Pine and West Steuben streets.
Bath police said witnesses reported Sick had intentionally exposed himself to passersby.
As officers prepared to release him, police said Sick swung his fist and struck an officer. A brief struggle followed before Sick was secured. The officer sustained minor injuries.
Sick was additionally charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony. He was arraigned in Bath Village Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail with bail.
