The Fayette Town Board has authorized possible legal action against the Traditional Cayuga Nation and others connected to a Seybolt Road property over alleged land-use violations, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The town says unauthorized structures have been built at 3136 Seybolt Road without required approvals and wants the property brought into compliance.
The resolution authorizes attorneys to seek removal of unpermitted structures and an injunction preventing additional construction that violates town code.
Supervisor Jeff Trout said officials have spent about two years trying to resolve the issues through meetings but have not seen consistent compliance.
Chief Sam George, who leads the Traditional Cayuga faction, told the newspaper that his understanding was the property had been brought up to code.
