A 57-year-old Rochester man was charged with felony assault after Steuben County sheriff's deputies said he injured another inmate at the Steuben County Jail.
Daniel L. Beal was arrested Sunday following an investigation into the reported assault, according to Sheriff Jim Allard. Jail medical staff treated the injured inmate.
Deputies charged Beal with second-degree assault, a Class D felony. The sheriff's office said Beal was already incarcerated when the alleged assault occurred.
Beal was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and returned to the Steuben County Jail.
