A Syracuse man was charged with felony weapon possession after Auburn police said officers found a switchblade knife during a traffic stop last week.
Jaquan Pitts, 35, was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle stopped Aug. 12 at Franklin and Prospect streets for a stop-sign violation, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police said officers discovered Pitts was carrying a black switchblade knife, which they classified as a deadly weapon.
Investigators also determined Pitts had a previous conviction for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Pitts was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony based on the prior conviction.
