Hornell Alstom employee and Rushford native Nickalus Linza will release a fentanyl awareness song this week, according to the Hornell Tribune. The song, "Backwoods for Days," was inspired by Jayden Dillenbeck, a Rochester-area woman who died of fentanyl poisoning at 22.
Linza is scheduled to perform the single in Times Square on August 20 during events organized by Facing Fentanyl Now.
The song will be released August 21, which is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.
Dillenbeck's family has also used her story in fundraisers and a Faces of Fentanyl awareness campaign.
Linza recorded the song at Soul Train Studios in Nashville, and it will also appear on his upcoming EP, "Black Crow Flies."
