Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman was absent from practice Tuesday and spotted wearing a walking boot, but an update later provided clarity on the injury.
Coleman has been diagnosed with a sprained foot and toe after suffering the injury during Buffalo’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe. The injury will cause Coleman to miss practice time, though Bills head coach Joe Brady reportedly did not express much concern about the situation.
The 23-year-old caught three passes for 17 yards and a touchdown in Buffalo’s 29-14 victory over Carolina. Coleman appeared to come away from the game without any immediate indication of a significant issue before showing up at Tuesday’s practice in the boot.
The injury comes after what has been a productive offseason and training camp for Coleman as he enters an important third season with the Bills.
Buffalo selected Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 33rd overall pick. Through his first two seasons, he has appeared in 26 games and made 18 starts, totaling 67 receptions for 960 yards and eight touchdowns.
Last season, Coleman recorded 38 catches for 404 yards and four touchdowns in 13 regular-season games.
