Geneva police arrested a 23-year-old city resident Saturday after an officer reported finding a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine during a traffic stop on North Exchange Street.
Nasir K. Carr was driving alone when an officer stopped his vehicle around 11:30 a.m. and determined his New York driver's license was suspended, police said.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, the officer also reported finding a large amount of money, several credit cards belonging to other people and a controlled substance, according to the department. Police did not list drug or stolen-property charges in the release.
Carr was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor. He also received traffic violations for failure to stop when entering from an alley, driveway or private business; a dirty or covered license plate; and illegal or nontransparent windows.
Police said Carr was processed at the Public Safety Building and taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment. He was released without bail and is due back in Geneva City Court at a later date.
