Von Miller’s next chapter will not take him back to Buffalo.
The former Buffalo Bills pass rusher is expected to sign with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, ending the possibility of a reunion with the Bills. A return to Buffalo remained a possibility after he fueled speculation earlier this month when he posted a photo on social media featuring a Bills hat with the words “unfinished business.”
Miller became one of the biggest additions of Brandon Beane’s tenure as general manager when Buffalo signed the future Hall of Famer to a six-year, $120 million contract in 2022. The move was designed to give the Bills a proven pass rusher capable of making the difference in critical moments.
His first season started exactly as Buffalo hoped. Miller recorded eight sacks in 11 games before tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, ending his season.
He struggled to regain that form after returning. Miller missed the first four games of the 2023 season while on the physically unable to perform list and finished that year without a sack. He bounced back with six sacks in 2024, but Buffalo released him the following offseason and replaced him with Joey Bosa.
Miller found his old form again with the Washington Commanders last season, recording nine sacks and showing that he could still impact games at age 36.
The Bills, meanwhile, have added Bradley Chubb and Mike Danna while giving Greg Rousseau a larger role on the edge. T.J. Parker has also emerged during the preseason, leaving Buffalo with a group of outside pass rushers.
Miller’s fit in Jim Leonhard’s 3-4 defensive scheme made a reunion intriguing, but Buffalo will move forward without the eight-time Pro Bowler.
