A Penn Yan man was charged with assault after police said he struck a woman and pushed her down a flight of stairs during an argument at an apartment building.
Troyer B. Sipple, 23, was charged with third-degree assault following the incident, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Officers responded to the apartment building for a reported fight and met with the woman, who told police Sipple had struck her and pushed her down the stairs.
Police said the woman suffered bruising and scratches and complained of shoulder pain.
Sipple admitted to pushing the woman, according to police.
He was issued an appearance ticket and released. Sipple is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
