A 64-year-old Springport man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a child younger than 11, according to The Citizen.
Craig S. Gilmore pleaded guilty in April to first-degree sexual conduct against a child, a Class B violent felony.
Investigators determined Gilmore engaged in sexual conduct with the child more than once between spring 2023 and summer 2024.
He will also serve 20 years of post-release supervision, be added to the state sex offender registry and remain subject to a full stay-away order of protection.
Cayuga County Court Judge Steven Buschman said the case involved conduct that would not be tolerated and described it as among the most disturbing he had seen.
