The north section of the Sandy Creek Boat Launch in Monroe County reopened Thursday after a temporary repair addressed damage caused by high Lake Ontario water levels, state environmental officials said.
The south section remains closed while the state Department of Environmental Conservation works on a permanent repair. The agency said it will announce when that work is complete.
The Town of Hamlin launch closed in mid-July after an inspection found the docks were significantly submerged, creating a public-safety concern.
Boaters can find alternative access sites through DEC's Monroe County boat launch directory. Questions about the closure can be directed to the DEC Region 8 Fisheries Office at 585-226-2466.
