A Bath man wanted on an active warrant was charged with a felony after police said he resisted officers and threw an item later determined to contain narcotics during an attempted arrest.
Adam Mullen, 40, was arrested July 28 after Bath police officers spotted him walking on Liberty Street around 9:31 p.m.
Police said officers knew Mullen was wanted on an active arrest warrant through the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and approached him.
Mullen allegedly resisted arrest and threw an item during the ensuing struggle.
Officers took him into custody after a brief struggle and recovered the discarded item, which police said was determined to contain an unidentified narcotic.
Police said Mullen was also found with another illegal controlled substance following his arrest.
He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony, along with resisting arrest and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.
Mullen was then turned over to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office on the outstanding warrant.
He was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail.
