Auburn is removing several parking kiosks and meters while expanding payment options through the Pango system, according to The Citizen.
The city is installing 100 new signs explaining how motorists can pay by app, phone or text, with 74 signs in place as of Thursday.
Some kiosks will remain in the Lincoln Street garage, along portions of Genesee, North and South streets, and in the Dill Street parking lot.
City officials said many meters are more than 20 years old, replacement parts are unavailable and new equipment could cost up to $150,000.
The changes come as Auburn has also raised parking rates from $1 to $2 an hour and resumed boot-and-tow enforcement for unpaid tickets.
